To all of you in the media who can’t understand why your business is going under, look around your office or newsroom.

What you see are people who report on the world the way they think it should be, not the way it is.  You most likely all come from the same universities, the same upper-middle class urban environment, subscribe to the same syndicated sources that have your same world view and sit around the lunch room with latte in hand wondering how the rest of us troglodytes can have it so wrong.

What you need is the same thing you push on us with every edition; Diversity, but in the form of diversity of thought in the newsroom staff, Tolerance, tolerance and respect and open mindedness of differing opinion,. Diversity brought on by searching for and hiring “the common man” or conservative. Tolerance by discussing not condemning positions you personally oppose.

If you don’t come to grip with the reality that your job is to report the world as it is, not the way it ought to be and trying to use reporting as tool for a progressive agenda, more and more of you will be looking for work in a universe of fewer jobs. We, the average Joes, will still be here and you’ll be gone . And good riddance.
