Letter to the editor …
I was born in Germany in 1948. We migrated to America in 1952 with my family, adopted American customs, learned English, appreciated, and learned to love our new home here.
I volunteered for the Marine Corps in 1966, went to Vietnam 68-69, and returned a different person, 100% full-blown PTSD. I take medication, speak with psychiatrist, therapists, try to control anger and depression, confusion, which has been inflamed lately by Anarchists, Antifa, BLM protests, and a “small” faction of liberals in a mostly conservative, blue-collar salt of the earth, rural community, Ellensburg.
These people who have lives, jobs, and don’t have the inclination or time and get paid to stand on the corner by the courthouse and display their “minority” opinions! I get enraged when I drive by and see signs saying “white Silence is violence”, “white lives can’t matter until black lives matter”; they should be standing on corners in Chicago, New York, WA DC, Baltimore, where the murder rate is sky high and where cities want to defund their police. This defies logic, common sense, and a civilized society!
Antifa supports rioting, looting, and violence, as we’ve seen in Portland and Seattle. Peaceful protesting is NOT hurling rocks, pieces of concrete, Molotov cocktails at our police. Overturning cars, setting them on fire, this is NOT peaceful protesting.
Antifa/ BLM represents Marxism, communism, socialism; These are not the fabric of our great country, America. I risked my life fighting communism in Vietnam to avoid the domino effect in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand. Our 60,000 KIA (killed in action) “didn’t die for nothing” !
I am angry and disappointed with our city council, police chief, and those who support these liberal Marxist educated idiots in “my” town when they let them break the laws.
Let’s keep this wonderful town as it IS, for the 80-90% decent, law-abiding citizens.
Sincerely, WH (Ellensburg resident)
